Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a true master of the books. Someone who finds deep satisfaction in accuracy, consistency, and well-run processes. Someone who is at their best when the numbers tie, the schedules are current, and the financial picture is crystal clear, and who is confident making the decisions and recommendations that protect cash and profitability.

This is a person who has spent years developing real depth in accounting and finance and takes quiet pride in work that is accurate, defensible, and done the right way. They are not looking for chaos or constant reinvention. They want a clearly defined scope, an established rhythm, and the focused time to do the work properly.

That is exactly what this role offers. You will be given responsibility for Velo's financial accuracy and the authority to hold the standard.

What you’ll be doing

The Financial Controller at Velo IT Group owns the accuracy, integrity, and rhythm of the company's financial operations. You maintain audit-ready books, run a disciplined month-end close, and produce the reporting leadership uses to make decisions about pricing, hiring, and growth. Velo is scaling from roughly $10M toward $25M in revenue in the next 3 years and that growth depends on a sound financial foundation. This role is that foundation. You will work directly with the owner and leadership team, modeling what the next move costs and what it is likely to return.

  • Own the Books: maintain audit-ready GL/chart of accounts; code AP, AR, bank/credit card feeds, and fixed assets; run month-end close with accruals, deferrals, reconciliations, and journal entries; keep the close checklist/calendar in Planner; document standards in Confluence.
  • Cash Flow and Forecasting: own the rolling 8-week cash forecast; monitor daily/weekly cash; flag shortfalls early; advise on major purchases, vendor payments, and payroll funding; build annual budgets, re-forecasts, and growth models for clients, headcount, and licensing costs.
  • Reporting and Financial Insight: prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements; maintain KPI reporting for MRR, revenue mix, revenue per client, service-line gross margin, and attrition; review vendor/licensing costs against billing; support pricing and renewal decisions with margin math.
  • Payroll and Billing Operations: process semi-monthly payroll; oversee tax deposits, filings, and benefits deductions; coordinate time entries, tickets, and ConnectWise agreements to ensure accurate monthly client invoicing.
