Who we’re looking for

Velo’s Controller is a decisive, precision-focused accounting professional who thrives on accuracy, consistency, and well-run processes. You’ll own the accounting cycle from start to finish — reconciling accounts, maintaining fixed asset and prepaid schedules, forecasting cash, and producing financial statements you can stand behind. Beyond keeping the books in order, you’ll make the calls on payment timing, expense coding, capitalization, and tax positioning — and you’ll actively gather intel from across the business to forecast inbound cash, assess non-recurring revenue, and anticipate impacts from the sales pipeline.

We’re scaling at 10–20% growth each year and have M&A activity on the horizon. That means new entities, capital projects, and expanded operations — and you’ll be the one making sure our books, schedules, and financial reports stay rock-solid through it all.

If you’re at your best when the numbers tie, the schedules are current, the financial picture is crystal clear — and you are confident making decisions and recommendations that protect cash and profitability — you’ll feel right at home here.

What you’ll be doing

  • Month-End Close: Own the close process — reconciliations, journal entries, variance review — completed within 10 business days.
  • Cash Management: Monitor and forecast cash flow; manage A/P and A/R to keep working capital strong and predictable.
  • Fixed Assets & Capital Projects: Track acquisitions, capitalized costs, and depreciation; maintain an accurate fixed asset register.
  • Prepaids & Deferred Items: Manage prepaid expenses and other timing adjustments for accurate income statement analysis.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce accurate monthly statements and factual variance commentary for leadership.
  • Compliance: Manage tax deadlines, lender reporting, and internal controls.
  • Process Management: Leverage our Microsoft Dynamics GP and ConnectWise Manage integration and maintain SOPs for all accounting processes.

This role is right for you if

  • You take pride in clean, complete financial data and schedules.
  • You prefer a role where your work is clearly defined, measurable, and essential to the business.
  • You have a strong working knowledge of fixed assets, capitalized expenses, prepaids, and timing adjustments.
  • You can run the accounting function independently and communicate clearly with leadership when needed.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or controller-type role.
  • Experience in service-based business accounting; MSP or technology industry experience a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP/PSA experience (Microsoft Dynamics GP/D365 and ConnectWise Manage preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage the full accounting cycle with minimal oversight.
